Ways to Celebrate Valentine's Day in 2024

Valentine's Day has always been one of my favorite holidays. There are always so many different activities, crafts, and things to do to celebrate this year. Whether you are celebrating by yourself, with besties, or a partner here's a list of ideas to get you started.

FREE Things to Do

1. Visit your local Arboretum, Trails, or Community Garden - Go for a walk or hike through your local green communities. This is a great way to explore locally! Check out the Washington Park Arboretum

2. Go for a Row - Reserve a free rowboat through The Center for Wooden Boats in Seattle. Spend time out on the water with your valentine!

3. Go to your local library - Check out your favorite romantic movie or book and snuggle up for a cozy February night.

4. Write a Love Note - to yourself, your partner, your family, or friends. This is the perfect time of year to express your love and gratitude for the people in your life.

5. Volunteer - Show your love for your community and the environment. Many local parks and communities have volunteer work days. Check out EventBrite to start your search!

6. Paper Heart Garland Decorations - get to cutting all your favorite colors of paper hearts and find your string or ribbon to make adorable decorations

Activities That Cost $

1. Take a Pottery Class - learn a new hobby and play around with some clay! I have loved being able to take a ceramics class through college and think clay is a perfect material for people who do not consider themselves artists. For a drop-in class go check out Ballard Clay!

2. Do a Coffee Flight Tasting - if you love coffee and rather celebrate Valentine's Day in the morning this is the perfect treat for you! Lots of local coffee roasters have the option to do a tasting of a few different types of coffees and can be a great way to discover new favorites. Cafe Hagen has a great espresso flight and other great menu options.  Anchorhead Coffee also offers Latte Art Classes - Check it out here.

3. Do a Paint & Sip - While some places may be 21+ only, there are also great options for painting classes and fun paint and sips. I love being able to do a canvas painting in 2 hours and having a teacher guide us through what is happening. Check out Stir Up the Paint to find tons of Western Washington classes.

4. Take a Dance Class - Recently my siblings and I took a drop-in swing dance class at Century Ballroom on Capitol Hill, Seattle. Whether you are going by yourself or with someone you will have such a great time meeting people and dancing with people of all different abilities. It's a great way to release energy and move!
