My Frequently Listened to Podcasts

I LOVE listening to podcasts. I probably listen to more podcasts than music on Spotify. I listen to them on the way to work, when I'm driving, when I'm at work doing physical tasks, when I'm doing chores, or just when I want to catch up on the world. I mainly listen to podcasts about the government, politics, news, civics, and social justice. I think it's interesting to hear every side of the story and the ways each media source portrays what is happening in our world.

Here are some of my favorite podcasts that I listen to almost every day of the week.

  • NPR Upfirst
    • This is the podcast I always listen to. While sometimes I skip the others I always want to know the basics of what is happening in the world and this is the best place to start!
    • This is about a 15 minute listen
  • What's News (The Wall Street Journal)
    • With two episodes around 15 minutes each released every day I am able to stay on top of what is happening much like NPR upfirst
  • CNN 5 things (CNN)
    • 5 days a week, 5 times a day, 5 new stories each episode, 5 minute listen. If you're on a time crunch listen here!
  • Civics 101 (New Hampshire Public Radio)
    • This is a great place to start if you want to learn about civics and the US government but don't know where to start. NHPR digs into current time events explaining and connecting the event to it's history and the law.
  • The Weeds (Vox)
    • "Politics is how people achieve power. Policy is what they do with it. Every week on The Weeds, host Jonquilyn Hill and guests break down the policies that shape our lives. from abortion to financial regulations to affirmative action to housing. We dive deep and we get wonky, but we have fun along the way. New episodes drop every Wednesday."
    • This builds upon current events and talks about how policy and power are intertwined.
  • The NPR Politics Podcast (NPR)
    • This podcast talks about why the events happening in Washington DC and on the campaign trail is important to our everyday lives.
  • The Fox News Rundown (FOX news radio)
    • This is much like other daily podcasts and helps with gaining another point of view.

I'll stop here but I have so many more! I hope this encourages you to start learning about current topics and gain an interest in your community politics.
